Spanish guitarist Álvaro Imperial started to learn music and jazz in his childhood and in 2005 he began his studies at the Jazz Academy of Murcia (Spain) with jazz guitarists like J.A. Hurtado.
Over the years he learnt from musicians like Barry Harris, Michael Lauren, Albert Vila, Jorge Pardo and participated in several workshops at Sedajazz (Valencia, Spain).
In 2012 he moved to Berlin where he continued his studies with jazz guitarist Giorgio Crobu and started to be a part of the Berlin Jazz Scene. In 2017 he moved for a few months to New York where he studied with musicians like Peter Bernstein and Barry Harris.
In September 2017 Álvaro entered the “Taller de Musics” in Barcelona, where he actually lives.
The music of Álvaro is a mixture of classic jazz sound and modern jazz style. He draws inspiration from masters such as Joe Pass, Wes Montgomery, Django Reinhardt, John Coltrane and Charlie Parker.
